Creating Attractive and Useful Permalinks for Your WordPress Blog

WordPress is a popular free and open source content management system written primarily in PHP and coupled with a MySQL or MariaDB server. Features include a simple plugin architecture, a template system and an active development community, known as WordPress Core, within WordPress. The system is free for anyone who wants to use it and there are many plugins available on the Internet to extend its functionality.

One plugin that I would definitely recommend is Trackbacks. Trackbacks are small packets of information that are sent back and forth between you and the person whose blog you are reading. For example, if you are reading a blog about pet care, then you can ping the blog owner with a Trackback. A Trackback consists of two lines – the first line is your Trackback URL, the second line is the destination URL. This little bit of information is sent back and forth between you and the person whose blog you are reading. nowar-kongress.com

Now if you are a website owner, then you probably know how annoying it is when a person sends you an email with an automated form that they have created. That form will take you to a PayPal payment page, where you can enter your credit card information. You then get charged $1.00 for each Trackback you create! It’s pretty annoying and something that you definitely want to avoid in your blogging career (and within the world of internet marketing).

Trackbacks are similar to pingbacks in that they are useful in tracking the visitors to your blogs and sending you emails with information about them. What makes them slightly different though is that you are able to ping multiple blogs with one single button. So, let’s say that you are reading a blog about pet care and you are interested in learning more about Cogwork. You can click on the Cogwork trackback and put that link onto all of your other blogs. When people click on those links they will be taken to Cogwork blogs and their content will be seen across all your other blogs.

With this new feature I’m finding that my blog sites get a lot more visitors. I’m also able to tell my readers in my blog posts and emails who wrote them. You can also see the pingbacks and trackbacks that other people are leaving on my blog front page. If you are using WordPress, you will find that your administration screen has an option called “Ping this URL”. By clicking on this option you will be able to ping a URL from within your WordPress blog.

If you navigate through your site and look at your recent posts, you will notice that there are now two sections underneath your posts. One section is called Archives while the other is called Recently Posted. You can navigate through these new posts by clicking on the Archives link and new posts will display under the section.

With the addition of the ability to pingback and trackbacks to all of your other blogs, it has become very easy to keep in touch with my clients and potential clients. My clients have read some of my blog posts and they have expressed interest in what I write. So now I have people contacting me and they want to know where to find out more about me. I can send them a pingback or trackback directly from my blog. This makes it very easy for people to find out who I am and what I have to say about my niche. It is a powerful and effective way of building your brand.

Permalinks are changing how blogs look. They are now more pleasing to the eye and the search engines like them. There are many free blogging tools available to help you customize your permalinks if you don’t already have them. You can create the links yourself or have them created for you. I use WordPress as my blogging tool of choice and it comes installed with my blog and Permalinks and with the WordPress plug-in it is automatically built into my blog posts.
